Day 35 Looe to Whitsand Bay
I had a nice stay at Bridgeside B&B and after a hearty cooked breakfast, I set off at just past 9am.
There was quite a steep climb out of Looe, which gave my leg muscles a rude awakening, but rewarded them with this view.
No sooner had I climbed up, than it was back down to sea level at Millendreath. There was then a steady climb out of there that perversely I quite enjoyed! I’m definitely getting fitter and am starting to power up the hills.
We then dropped down into Seaton, where I stopped at a cafe for a coffee and cake.
There was then quite a lot of road walking through Downderry before a steep climb up Batten Cliffs. However, yet again you were rewarded with stunning views! As I walked towards Portwrinkle, I could hear gunfire coming from the military ranges at Tregantle Fort.I dropped down into the village, but there were few facilities there, but a small cafe at the far end of the beach. I had a panini cheese & tomato and a can of lager.
After that I made my way up to the ranges, but although the firing had stopped, the red flags were still flying. It meant a diversion alongside a busy road, but nothing too taxing.
There was then more road walking to Freathy and the campsite at Whitsand Bay Battery.
I walked just over 13 miles today and climbed 2440 ft!
