Day 31 Portscatho to Treveague
I stayed at Treloan campsite Portscatho last night. It was lovely and peaceful.
I left at 8:00 this morning and headed back into Portscatho village, before heading back onto the path.
The path wasn’t too strenuous to start off with, and took me down to Pendower Beach, which was quite pretty.
The path started to get a bit more tricky after that and there was quite a lot of twisting, turning and climbing as I headed to Kiberick Cove.In no time at all ( well 3 hours) I was dropping down into Port-a-loo ( aka Portloe).
Thankfully Port-a-Loo had a pub, even if I had to wait for it to open up! They didn’t do ‘proper food’ but made me a BLT sandwich and chips, which helped to set me up for the next stage. That was handy, because the humidity increased and what little cooling breeze disappeared. As you can imagine, I became a right sweaty mess!
The afternoon trudge, became really hard work. Eventually, I reached Caerhays Castle and beach.
I stopped at the place I took this photo, just to summon up some energy. I was really struggling and had to resort to my secret stash of Jelly Babies. The issue I had was that there were no camping facilities until near Goran Haven, so I just had to carry on.
I rounded Dodman Point ( where there is a large cross)
I then made my way to Treveague campsite, which is probably one of the most welcoming and has the most facilities for a ‘backpacker’ friendly campsite.I some how managed to walk just shy of 17 miles today!
I gather the forecast for tomorrow is for a bit of heatwave. I might get up really early before the heat gets too unbearable!
