Day 26 Marazion to Porthleven

 What a brilliant day! 

The campsite last night was very sheltered and peaceful, so much do, I didn’t wake up until 7. 

I set off at 8:00 and walked through Marazion village, which was very pretty and immaculately tidy. The path soon gave me wonderful views of St Michaels Mount. 

I stopped off at the village of Perranuthnoe, for a cooked breakfast in a beach cafe, next to this field.
The breakfast gave me the impetus to move on. This part of the path was really nice walking. A relatively flat wide path, with the occasional hill. 
It has been a lovely sunny day, meaning that the views were even more beautiful today. 

I began chatting to a lovely German couple and walked the last half mile or so with them to Praa Sands, which was a lovely beach! 
After a couple of revivers at a bar there. the path after then got a little tougher, with quite a few more hills. However, the views were even more staggering. 


I’m not sure I’d want to be their window cleaner!

I am staying tonight in Porthleven, which is quite a large fishing port!
Todays walk was just under 13 miles, challenging at times but very enjoyable.

Day 50 Wyke Regis to West Lulworth

 After I updated the blog yesterday afternoon, I caught a bus into Weymouth, where I met up with Steve & Anna. They have decided to hang around for a couple of days, so that they can walk through Lulworth Ranges on Saturday. I had originally intended to do that, but now just can’t face killing time, so I am just pushing on regardless. So last night, was the final chance to meet up with them.  Then whilst sat in a back street pub, Anna suddenly shouted “That’s Peter” pointing out of the window. Sure enough, Peter from Germany who started the same day as me and whom I haven’t seen since Hartland Quay, was walking past. We both ran out and probably startled the poor man! He came inside and joined us for a meal and few beers. Post Hike Review

 Nearly a week has passed since I completed my Southwest Coast Path challenge and already some of the memories are starting to fade!  So, before I forget everything, I thought I'd better sit down and write about the good, the bad and the ugly of the adventure.  Already, I have been asked several times,  what was my favourite part?   That's a tough question to answer, because there were so many good bits. Obviously, the weather can make a huge difference to how much you 'enjoy' a stretch, but on the whole, I had near perfect weather most of the time.  I'm going to go with a Top 3 of sections I enjoyed.  1) Padstow to Berryl's Point in North Cornwall. Yes it was a lovely sunny day but some of the scenery was spectacular. It really did feel like I was in the Mediterranean at times. Day 25 Treen to Marazion

 I stayed overnight in the lovely Treen Farm Campsite, which the kind lady owner allowed me to stay at, free of charge, as I was walking for charity.  I set off at 7:45 and was soon encountering some tough walking conditions. There was either overgrown paths, low branches or more bl**dy boulders! I can’t begin  to tell you how energy sapping clamouring over rocks with a 16kg backpack on is. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was on the flat but a lot of this morning’s was up or down steep gradients!  However, in recompense for the efforts required, you do get to see some lovely views. This is Penberth Cove.  Or here looking over St Loys cove At one point, I had to tip toe across a stinking bog. Luckily I had the poles to stop me from falling in! The walk from Tater-Du lighthouse to Lamorna Cove, was particularly energy sapping.
