Day 25 Treen to Marazion

I stayed overnight in the lovely Treen Farm Campsite, which the kind lady owner allowed me to stay at, free of charge, as I was walking for charity.

I set off at 7:45 and was soon encountering some tough walking conditions. There was either overgrown paths, low branches or more bl**dy boulders! I can’t begin  to tell you how energy sapping clamouring over rocks with a 16kg backpack on is. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was on the flat but a lot of this morning’s was up or down steep gradients!

However, in recompense for the efforts required, you do get to see some lovely views. This is Penberth Cove.

Or here looking over St Loys cove
At one point, I had to tip toe across a stinking bog. Luckily I had the poles to stop me from falling in!
The walk from Tater-Du lighthouse to Lamorna Cove, was particularly energy sapping. Thank goodness there was a cafe there, even if I did have to wait around for half an hour for them to open up!

After a coffee and pasty, I headed out onto the path again. The first mile or so, was much of the same - steep climbs and more boulder hopping. However, at Point Spaniard the path joined a road into Mousehole.

I didn’t stop, because I wanted to get some things in Penzance and then continue to Marazion.
I carried on towards Newlyn and stopped for a while to pay my respects at the Penlee Lifeboat Disaster Memorial.

I continued through Newlyn, which has Cornwall’s largest fishing fleet! There was little activity this afternoon, but maybe they are back from the days fishing!

After Newlyn I walked on to Penzance, where I managed to buy my 4th pair of sunglasses this trip ( I keep breaking or losing them)!
Penzance seemed a bit run down, so I didn’t hang around. The walk along the seafront to Marazion, although lovely and level, was hard going on the feet! Still, mustn’t complain after moaning about this morning’s terrain!
I am staying at Dove Meadows campsite, which has very welcoming staff. They managed to squeeze me in, despite being fully booked, coz some bloke called Steve nabbed the last pitch😜
Yes, I’m camped next to Steve & Anna again!
